Announcing the Election of New 2026 Leadership

ABOHNS

The American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the election of new leadership. Beginning March 29, the ABOHNS leaders introduced below have assumed their new roles.


Bradley F. Marple, MD
President

Marple

Dr. Brad Marple is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He also serves as the department’s Arthur E. Meyerhoff Chair, among many other administrative and clinical roles. Dr. Marple’s clinical interests include inflammatory sinonasal disease, acute and chronic sinusitis, sinonasal disease that is refractory to medical and surgical treatment, and anterior skull-base defects. Dr. Marple was certified by ABOHNS in 1995 and elected to the ABOHNS Board of Directors in 2018.


Gregory J. Wiet, MD

Dr. Greg Wiet is a Professor of Otolaryngology, Pediatrics, and Biomedical Informatics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and a Pediatric Otolaryngologist at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Wiet's clinical interests include complex pediatric otolaryngology, with an emphasis in pediatric laryngeal disorders. His research has focused on the development, validation, and dissemination of virtual reality surgical simulation and assessing technical skill in otolaryngology. Dr. Wiet was certified by ABOHNS in 1996 and elected to the ABOHNS Board of Directors in 2020.

Dr. Mas Takashima is Professor and Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery at Houston Methodist Academic Institute and Weill Cornell Medicine. Clinically, Dr. Takashima is a recognized leader in rhinology, skull base surgery, sleep surgery, and otolaryngic allergy. He has a particular interest in educational innovation and the integration of artificial intelligence into physician training, education, and patient care. Dr. Takashima was certified by ABOHNS in 2003 and elected to the ABOHNS Board of Directors in 2026.
